Q. Where did you grow up? Did you move around a lot? If yes, how did this affect you?
A. I grew up outside Berryville, VA. I attended Clarke County public schools for 12 years and went to school with the same 100+ people for most of those 12 years. Once I graduated from high school I was ready to shake the dust of our small town off my shoes!
Q. Are you married? How long have you been married? Do you have any children? What are your children’s names?
A. I have been married to my husband Mark for almost 16 years. I was married to my first husband for 8 yrs, divorced, was a single parent for 8 years and then met my husband who is the love of my life. I have 2 adult children from my first marriage, David & Lauren. My husband has a grown daughter, Brittany. We have one daughter together, Mariana who is almost 12 yrs old. I have been homeschooling her for the past 8+ years
Q. Do you have any pets, what types of pets and what are their names?
A. We have a cat who adopted us named Mittens, a.k.a. Cat-Dog and we have a rescued Pit Bull named Cocoa Mocha Latte. My husband belongs to the cat and I belong to the dog :)
Q. Before you started your essential oils business, what was your most interesting job and why?
A. I’ve had a lot of interesting jobs in my day so it's difficult to pick just one. I’ve worked as a Slot Room cashier, I’ve waitressed, I’ve been an Executive Assistant to several CEO’s, I’ve worked in Academia and I spent 18+ years in Information Technology. One of the things I’ve enjoyed across the board with all of my previous work has been helping other people.
Q. What are some of the unexpected hurdles to being a distributor with Young Living?
A. Sometimes people will look at me like I have two heads. I have spent the better part of the last decade educating myself on living a cleaner and greener lifestyle. Not everyone I meet is onboard with this because there is a certain level of discomfort. It means having to be accountable for the products we purchase and especially for the things we choose to eat. Living a non-toxic lifestyle can be challenging.
Q. What are some of the unexpected benefits to being a distributor with Young Living?
A. Soooo many benefits! Mainly I am able to make a real and tangible difference in people’s lives. I’m able to help people discover how they can live healthier, happier lives. As a distributor (wholesale member) I have access to incredible promotions and cost savings. Because I do this as a business, I am able to take tax deductions which saves my family money. Along my journey with this company I have met some of the most amazing and beautiful people that I now get to call my friends. Hey, I could go on and on here!
Q. Looking back at where you started on this journey, where did you think it was going to lead you?
A. This was an accidental business for me. At the time that I was introduced to Young Living I had another MLM company that I was promoting. I still use that company’s services and support my existing clients, I just don’t promote them. I truly believe that trying to represent more than one business at a time is a disaster. As far as I know, no one has ever reached the top ranks of their company while promoting another business. My intention is to achieve the rank of Royal Crown Diamond with Young Living. I am excited about building and developing a team of dedicated people and being able to help them achieve their goals.
Q. What is one thing about you that not many people know?
A. I lived in Japan for five years and I speak a little Japanese. My first child was born in Japan and we moved back to the states when he was only 2 months old.
Q. Did you go to college? If so, what degrees do you have? What, if any, further degrees or certifications are you pursuing?
A. I attended LFCC when I was a senior in high school and then I attended the University of Maryland, Asian Division during my 5 yrs in Japan. My B.S. degree is in Business Management with a minor in Psychology.
At this point, I would like to pursue a board certification in Raindrop specialist including animals. Right now my focus is on homeschooling my youngest child who is in the 6th grade.

Q. What makes you really happy? What do you like to do for fun?
A. I really love to grow and cook organic food. I enjoy gardening, I just don’t like pulling weeds! I have a subscription to Cook’s Illustrated and I love this magazine. I get some of my best inspiration from this magazine and online website.
For fun, I enjoy crocheting if it’s cold or rainy outside. In fair weather I enjoy hiking with my local hiking group called “Take-A-Hike”. Some of the best people in the world are part of this loose knit group and we always have fun on our bi-weekly hikes.

Q. Where have you traveled?
A. Well, I’ve already told you about living in Japan for 5 years. I worked for a travel company in the early 1990’s and was able to travel extensively for business with that company. I’ve been skiing in Salt Lake City, multiple trips to Phoenix, Orlando and Atlanta. I’ve been to Jamaica twice and took a trip to the Bahamas all by myself once. On hindsight this was probably one of the bravest and foolish trips I ever took! I’ve been to San Francisco, Dallas, San Antonio and to the Black Hills of South Dakota. I love living in the Shenandoah Valley!
Q. What is the hardest thing about being a distributor with Young Living?
A. Approaching people I don’t know to share about the oils and making phone calls. Once I get on the phone I’m usually good….sometimes too good and spend too much time on the phone. It’s just getting organized and making my calls that is sometimes daunting. I admire anyone in business that calls me just to check in on me to make sure I’m happy with their product. Definitely not a lot of this going on and I think it could be a game changer for a lot of people.
Q. What comes the easiest to you as a distributor with Young Living?
A. Presenting workshops. I absolutely love to share what I’ve learned about these amazing products. So whenever I can get in front of 6 or 7 interested people I’m in my happy place.
Q. What song do you get stuck in your head most often?
A. The tune from Animal Crossing, a Nintendo game that my daughter plays. Do de de do, de do, de do.
Q. What makes you laugh?
A. Puppies in pajamas and video of cat’s being startled. I’m pretty easy to entertain.
Q. What is the best compliment you’ve ever received?
A. My youngest child has told me often that I’m a great Mom and my husband regularly tells me that he appreciates all of the little things I do for our family and how much he loves me. These are the best compliments in the world to me.
Q. What was the last book that you read?
A. John Maxwell, Living an Intentional Life
